Valley Fabrics opened it's door July 30, 2004. The shop was a long time fantasy of the owner, Francesca DenHartog. DenHartog was a studio art major at Harvard University '83, worked a year in Graphic Design in Boston and then became a college women's lacrosse coach. A former U.S. Lacrosse Team player, 2 time All-American, 3 time World Cup Team Member, DenHartog coached 15 years, both at Yale University and the University of Massachusetts. In 2000, after her second child, DenHartog resigned from full-time coaching. Several part-time jobs later, DenHartog returned to her creative roots and opened Valley Fabrics. Her vision of a hub for fiber artists, quilters and sewers has come to fruition. The shop provides a warm, personable element while carrying a large spectrum of fabrics: cottons, silks, velvets, rayons. For the fiber artist: beads, embellishment fibers, buttons, ric-rac, ribbons. Color abounds and inspiration overwhelms those who walk in the door! |
